Erik Menendez has been denied parole, more than three decades after he and his older brother, Lyle, brutally killed their parents in the family’s Beverly Hills mansion.
A California parole panel ruled that the 54-year-old must remain behind bars, despite a sustained campaign for his release supported by relatives, friends, and high-profile figures, including reality star Kim Kardashian.
The decision deals a significant setback to a growing movement that has gained momentum in recent years, fueled by documentaries and dramatizations most notably Netflix’s popular series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”
The productions have reignited public fascination with the 1989 shotgun murders and the sensational trial that followed, spotlighting claims of abuse within the Menendez household and the brothers’ privileged lifestyle.
The ruling comes just hours before Lyle Menendez, now 57, is scheduled to make his own parole plea before the same panel.
