PMO Assesses Operations at Lagos State Wastewater Management Office |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Lagos State Parastatal Monitoring Office (PMO), on Monday, paid a working visit to the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) as part of its oversight functions on state-owned agencies and organisations.

Receiving the PMO delegation led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Parastatal Monitoring, Hon. Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, the General Manager of Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, Engr. Adefemi Afolabi, said the agency is at the forefront of maintaining and sustaining wastewater management in the State.

He emphasised that Zonal Heads and Enforcement Officers from the Agency monitor and work in all Local Governments LCDAs in the State. Their primary objective is to ensure that citizens properly dispose of their wastewater and that sewage is not pumped into public drains to prevent outbreaks of communicable diseases.

He noted that the Agency faces the challenges of non-functional monitoring vehicles and will be grateful if PMO could assist in getting more vehicles for zonal officers, promising that LSWMO can surpass its present revenue performance and enhance service delivery if it has more vehicles for its officers to move around the State.

The Special Adviser, Hon. Obanikoro remarked that the purpose of the visit was to assess the performance of the agency and recommend better measures to achieve better performance.

He commended the activities of the General Manager and his team and shared ideas on areas where the agency needs to put in more effort.

The Special Adviser emphasised that the reward for hard work is more work, imploring the General Manager and the management staff of the Agency to put in more effort to make wastewater sustainable in the State for the safety of public health.
