Judicial activities in Kwara State are set to resume following the suspension of a three-day strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
The union announced on Wednesday that the decision came after negotiations with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who pledged to implement the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure (CONJUSS) for judiciary workers beginning in September 2025.
Court operations across the state had been grounded since the industrial action commenced, as workers protested delays in the review of salaries and allowances. JUSUN said it was confident that the new arrangement would address long-standing welfare concerns in the judiciary.
In a statement, the union expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq, the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Hon. Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Mercy Shittu, Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, as well as labour groups including the NLC, TUC, and JNC for their roles in resolving the impasse.
The government also assured judiciary workers that no staff member would be sanctioned for participating in the strike.
JUSUN directed its members to resume work on Thursday, August 28, 2025, noting that the suspension of the strike was conditional.
The union described the development as a significant step toward improving the welfare of judiciary workers and strengthening cooperation between the judiciary and the state government.
