The Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, has marked one month in office, with residents already witnessing early signs of his administration’s people-centered governance.
Within his first 30 days, Akindipe has taken steps to consolidate on the gains of the past administration while setting a renewed direction for the council. His interventions have cut across infrastructure, healthcare, education, revenue generation, and humanitarian services.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Sylva Daniel, the Executive Chairman outlined key initiatives embarked upon in his first month, including road infrastructure inspections targeting previously neglected communities and visits to Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to assess their conditions and strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.
The council has also distributed free GCE forms to indigent youths in a bid to widen access to education.
LAGOS EYE NEWS gathered that the Chairman undertook a notable humanitarian intervention by rescuing an elderly destitute man who had lived on the streets of Olodi since 1957.
Akindipe reportedly settled his medical bills, ensured his recovery, and sponsored his return to Akwa Ibom State to reunite with his family, providing financial support to help him restart his life.
Speaking on his leadership approach, Akindipe described his philosophy as people-driven, emphasizing that every action of his administration would be guided by the principles of impact and inclusion.
“This is just the beginning,” the Council Chairman said, assuring residents that the journey to transform Ajeromi-Ifelodun has only just begun.
