The Kebbi State Government has announced the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru.
Governor Nasir Idris approved the appointment following the recommendation of the Zuru Emirate Emirship Election Committee.
Presenting the letter of appointment to the monarch on Thursday in Zuru, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari, said the selection was made after a transparent process involving three candidates screened by the committee.
According to him, Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami secured the highest number of votes, making him the preferred candidate for the throne.
The new appointment follows the death of the late Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, who passed away on August 16, 2025, at a hospital in London.
While commending Governor Idris for approving the appointment, Dutsin-Mari urged the new Emir to justify the confidence reposed in him by discharging his duties with fairness, diligence, and the fear of God.
