The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has dismissed reports alleging that ad-hoc staff who participated in the July 12, 2025, local government elections are yet to receive their allowances.
In a statement issued by its Director of Public Relations, the Commission described the publication as “misleading, mischievous, and baseless,” stressing that all duly verified ad-hoc staff had been paid in accordance with the Commission’s payment schedule.
“For the first time in LASIEC’s history, payments were concluded within record time, an unprecedented feat compared to previous elections,” the statement read.
The Commission further explained that the few outstanding cases were not due to diversion of funds but rather incomplete or incorrect bank details submitted by some individuals. It urged the affected persons to liaise with their respective Electoral Officers for verification and correction to facilitate prompt payment.
On the allegation of embezzlement, LASIEC maintained that such claims were unfounded since payments are made directly through the Lagos State Government’s transparent financial system, leaving no room for mismanagement.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, integrity, and fairness, LASIEC called on members of the public to disregard sensational reports aimed at undermining confidence in the state’s democratic institutions.
