Lagos Govt Resumes Phase Two Repairs on Ogudu–Ifako Bridge, Issues Traffic Advisory |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of the second phase of repair works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge (inbound Island), beginning Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

According to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the repairs are part of the state’s ongoing bridge maintenance programme.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed that the traffic management plan has been thoroughly reviewed to ease the gridlock experienced during the first phase and ensure timely completion.

Traffic Advisory

For motorists inbound from the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway and Lagos Toll Gate, traffic will generally remain free-flowing. However, near the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge work zone, vehicles will be diverted into one lane of the three-lane carriageway about 50 metres before the repair area and will regain full access 50 metres afterwards.

To Oshodi: Motorists may use the Ojota Slip Road to connect Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony, by Taxi Park) for onward movement to Oshodi.

To Victoria Island: Drivers can either connect Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony, by Town Planning Way) through Ojota Slip Road to Gbagada for access to the Third Mainland Bridge, or continue along Ikorodu Road towards Funsho Williams Avenue to link Eko Bridge.

For motorists inbound from Ikeja and its environs, the state advised using Maryland to connect Ikorodu Road/Funsho Williams Avenue and proceed via Eko Bridge to Outer Marina. Alternatively, they can connect Ikorodu Road (by Taxi Park, Anthony) to Oshodi before continuing their journey.

Mr. Osiyemi urged road users to cooperate with traffic officers, maintain lane discipline, and take advantage of alternative routes provided.

“This partial closure is a necessary part of our infrastructure maintenance programme. We appeal to motorists to be patient and bear with the temporary inconvenience for the sake of safer and improved roads,” the commissioner stated.
