Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed pride and gratitude over the successful operation of the Lagos Mass Rail Transit (Blue Line), two years after its launch.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Governor disclosed that the Blue Line had safely transported over five million passengers across the state within 24 months, without a single accident.
“Two years ago, we took a bold step with the launch of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line. Today, as I look back on how far we have come, I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude,” Sanwo-Olu said.
According to him, the train service now runs every ten minutes, completing more than 90 trips daily and significantly reducing travel time for commuters.
“These achievements show that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people,” the Governor noted, while appreciating residents for their trust and support.
To mark the second anniversary, Sanwo-Olu announced a 50 percent reduction in fares on Thursday, September 4, 2025, urging more residents to experience the Blue Line.
“Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are creating the Lagos we all desire—building a city where moving around is easier, safer, and faster. Together, we are shaping the Lagos of our future,” he added.
