Obasa, Akinsanya Applaud Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Unveils Community Initiatives for Students |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Two years into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has said Nigeria is already witnessing transformation in economic growth, national renewal, and strengthened governance.

Obasa stated this at the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Engagement held at Solomon Hall, Mushin, on Thursday. The event, themed “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda”, took place simultaneously across the 40 constituencies of Lagos State.

According to him, the forum provides a platform for accountability, interaction with citizens, and joint problem-solving.

The Speaker said President Tinubu’s agenda has stabilised the economy through fiscal reforms and diversification. “Investor confidence has been boosted, our credit rating has improved, and Nigeria is now on a stronger foundation for sustainable growth,” he noted.

He further highlighted ongoing infrastructural projects, including new road networks, upgraded ports, and modern public facilities, describing them as key to positioning Nigeria as a hub for commerce and innovation.

On agriculture, Obasa said the administration has invested heavily in mechanised farming, farmer support, and expanded markets to boost food security. He also commended the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he described as a landmark policy giving renewed hope to young Nigerians.

“Education is once again becoming the tool for empowerment and national development,” he said.

Obasa also praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in Lagos, pointing to urban renewal, modern transport systems, and sustainable housing projects, made possible through synergy between the Executive and the Assembly.

In his remarks, Hon. Prince Nureni Akinsanya, representing Mushin Constituency I, applauded Obasa’s leadership and the legislature’s collaborative role in strengthening governance.

He stressed that Lagos remains an example of visionary leadership, noting that the Assembly has passed over 467 resolutions. “The success of the Renewed Hope Agenda is a collaborative triumph involving government, private sector, civil society, and our communities,” Akinsanya said.

Akinsanya also announced a new community initiative for students. On September 18 and 19, he will distribute “Back to School Packs” school bags and writing materials to pupils in 27 public primary schools across Mushin Constituency I.

“This is the first of its kind initiative. I encourage all students to attend with their guardians and voter’s cards,” he said.

The lawmaker listed other projects and interventions facilitated for Mushin residents, including: Rehabilitation of Fafolu, Kumuyi, and Abiodun Streets, Construction of the Ilupeju Bypass, Scholarships, JAMB support, and refurbishment of St. Michael School, ₦20m grants for widows and youths, Regular food distribution for the elderly, widows, and vulnerable groups, Empowerment programmes and youth employment opportunities across state agencies. And several other laudable achievements that have benefited the Constituents.

He also highlighted his sponsorship and co-sponsorship of several bills, including the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority Bill, Victim Assistance and Witness Protection Bill (2021), and the Lagos State Data Protection Bill (2021).

The event was attended by constituents, party leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and trade association representatives, who engaged in discussions on governance and community progress.
