Popular Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his son.
The 54-year-old actor broke the news in an Instagram post on Saturday, though he did not disclose details surrounding the boy’s passing.
Sharing a photo of his late child, Chatta wrote: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”
The announcement sparked an outpouring of condolences from colleagues and fans, who flooded his comment section with prayers and words of comfort.
The development comes just days after veteran actress, Peju Ogunmola, lost her only son, Ayomikun, in Ibadan, a tragedy that has also left the industry reeling.
The two deaths have cast a shadow over Nollywood, with practitioners and fans expressing shock at the double tragedy that struck within a week.
Chatta, who has featured in numerous Yoruba and English films, had in June revealed that he previously lost his first child, a daughter, to poor medical care and financial hardship.
He recalled burying her in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate because he could not afford a coffin at the time, a painful memory he said had stayed with him.
