Turkish club Trabzonspor has reached a verbal agreement with Manchester United to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana on loan, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Onana, however, is yet to make a final decision on the move, with the transfer dependent on his approval. Reports from The Athletic indicate that the proposed deal does not include an option to buy.
The Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday, September 12, giving both clubs limited time to finalize the agreement.
Onana, 29, has endured a difficult spell at Old Trafford since arriving from Inter Milan in a £47.2 million transfer in July 2023. He has been criticized for several high-profile errors, including a costly mistake in United’s Carabao Cup second-round defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town.
The Cameroon international has yet to feature in the Premier League this season, with Altay Bayindir currently preferred as Erik ten Hag’s first-choice goalkeeper. His prospects at the club have also been further complicated following the Deadline Day arrival of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
