The body of an unidentified man was on Sunday discovered inside a car parked near the Annex Gate of the National Assembly Complex, close to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
According to a police report, the deceased was found in a sleeping position on the back seat of a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR 577 BF.
He is suspected to have been a labourer working at a construction site within the National Assembly premises.
Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Monday, September 8, 2025, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the body was discovered around 9:00 a.m. on September 7 following a distress call.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly Division, immediately responded and upon arrival, discovered the lifeless body inside a red Peugeot 406 motor vehicle with registration number BWR-577 BF,” the statement read.
The corpse was promptly evacuated to the Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition.
Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death.
