Dangote Refinery has announced a nationwide reduction in petrol prices as it fixes Monday, September 15, 2025, for the commencement of its direct fuel distribution initiative.
The company, which had earlier scheduled the programme for August 15, said the delay was to finalize logistics for the deployment of its 4,000 compressed natural gas trucks that will deliver petrol and diesel to consumers at zero distribution cost.
According to a fresh price template released on the company’s official X handle, the refinery’s gantry price remains at N820 per litre, unchanged from last month. However, retail prices across states have been adjusted downward.
In Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti states, petrol will now retail at N841 per litre, down from N860. In Abuja, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Kwara states, the price has been reduced to N851 per litre, from N885.
This represents a N19 reduction in the South-West and a N34 cut in the North Central and South-South regions.
The $20 billion, 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery said the move is part of efforts to cushion the impact of rising energy costs on Nigerians, despite its ongoing dispute with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
Dangote Refinery stressed that the new price template and direct distribution scheme will officially take effect from September 15, 2025.
