The Kwara State Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Shittu, says the state government is determined to enhance the efficiency and productivity of civil servants in the state.
Dr. Shittu gave the assurance in Ilorin while receiving the report of the committee set up to assess training needs across the state civil service.
The report was presented by the chairman of the committee and retired Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Illiyasu Idris Tsoda, at the Office of the Head of Service conference room.
The Acting Head of Service promised that the state government would work diligently on the findings and recommendations of the committee to reposition the civil service for better service delivery.
She praised the committee members for their thorough work, noting that the report would serve as a guide in government’s effort to reform the service.
Earlier, the committee chairman, Alhaji Tsoda, identified skill gaps, weak service values, inadequate orientation, poor ICT knowledge, irregular training, and poor knowledge of service rules as major challenges facing the civil service.
He disclosed that the committee recommended mandatory continuous training, a detailed curriculum across cadres, proper monitoring and evaluation of officers, and the revival of induction courses for new staff.
Tsoda urged the Head of Service to pursue and ensure the implementation of the report.
