Vice President Dr. Michael Usi, who also serves as President of Odya Zake Alibe Mulandu, has cast his ballot at Namatete Primary School in Blantyre, urging Malawians to turn up in large numbers for today’s elections.
Speaking to the press shortly after voting on Tuesday, Usi emphasized the importance of citizen participation in shaping the nation’s future through the ballot.
“I am a citizen of the Republic of Malawi and I’m simply exercising my right to vote so that I can choose a President of my choice, a Member of Parliament of my choice, and a Ward Councillor of my choice,” he said.
He further appealed to undecided voters to seize the opportunity and make their voices heard.
“I know there might be some people who have not yet made up their mind to go and cast their votes. My plea is that they should come out and vote because this is the only opportunity that we have to choose leaders that should take us to prosperity,” he added.
According to the Malawi Electoral Commission, a total of 15,148 polling stations have been established across the country to accommodate 7,203,390 registered voters in the tripartite elections, where Malawians will elect the President, Members of Parliament, and Ward Councillors.
