The Canada–Africa Chamber of Business has concluded an official visit to Hamilton, underscoring the city’s growing role as a hub for trade, investment, and international partnerships.
The visit formed part of the three-day Africa Accelerating 2025 program, which brought together business leaders, government officials, and stakeholders from Canada and African markets to explore opportunities across multiple sectors.
The Delegates from South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, and Kenya joined the high-level mission to Hamilton, reflecting the growing interest in partnerships with the city and the broader Canadian economy.
As part of the program, delegates toured Canadian firms, including Trident Engineering Institute and Nexim Healthcare Consultants, both led by African-born entrepreneur Henry Lukenge, who has expanded his business presence into Hamilton.
“Hamilton offers many benefits versus other cities, including a highly skilled workforce, an affordable real estate market, and numerous incentives that support investment decisions,” Lukenge said during a tour of the Trident campus. “As an investor and business owner, I am delighted to have chosen Hamilton and privileged to welcome fellow Africans, and indeed all investors, seeking to expand into Canada through this wonderful city.”
The City of Hamilton also welcomed the delegation. “Hamilton has transformed into a leading destination for global investment, built on our strengths in manufacturing, logistics, life sciences, and innovation,” said Norm Schleehahn, Director of Economic Development. “This visit is an important opportunity to showcase how Hamilton is open for business and ready to grow international partnerships.”
Garreth Bloor, President of the Canada–Africa Chamber of Business, emphasized the significance of the engagement. “The Chamber’s work in Hamilton reflects our mission to strengthen commercial ties between Canada and African markets. By spotlighting Hamilton as an investment destination, we are building bridges that highlight economic growth. We are also grateful to Henry Lukenge for his sponsorship, which helped make this program possible.”
The Chamber’s visit to Hamilton is part of its broader Canada-wide programming to advance trade and investment opportunities, ahead of upcoming Canada–Africa Business Conferences on the continent, including events scheduled in Zambia and Namibia.
