Buni Reaffirms Security as Top Priority, Distributes Vehicles to Agencies in Yobe |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has restated that security of lives and property will continue to remain the topmost priority of his administration.

The governor made this known on Tuesday in Damaturu during the commissioning and distribution of 47 four-wheel-drive vehicles and 50 motorcycles to security agencies operating across the state.

Governor Buni commended the Federal Government and security agencies for their sustained efforts in restoring peace and security in Yobe.

“Let me seize this opportunity to appreciate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the support in ensuring that we have peace and security in Yobe State.
I also wish to express our profound gratitude to the men and officers of the security agencies, members of the vigilante groups and hunters for their dedication and gallantry in providing security across the state,” Buni said.

The governor explained that the logistics support was designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of security agencies.

“The purpose of today’s occasion is to step up government’s efforts towards supporting security agencies to enable them carry out their duties effectively and efficiently,” he added.

Under the distribution, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the 17 local government areas received one vehicle each, while additional vehicles were allocated to the State Police Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Other beneficiaries include the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), which also received one vehicle each.

Similarly, the 17 local government chairmen each received a vehicle to support their daily security operations, while the 50 motorcycles were distributed across the agencies.

Governor Buni further directed local government chairmen to assume responsibility for maintaining the vehicles allocated to the police within their respective councils.

Earlier, the Special Adviser on Security Affairs to the Governor, Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd.), applauded Buni’s continuous support to security agencies through the provision of logistics, accommodation, and other assistance. He assured that the vehicles would be put to judicious use to strengthen security across the state.
