The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for September will hold on Saturday, September 27, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Mrs. Shakirat Muritala, the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, said there would be a restriction of both vehicular and human movement across the state during the exercise.
She urged residents to participate actively by cleaning their homes and business premises, while also commending the cooperation of communities in the last exercise.
According to her, the community-based waste disposal system introduced previously will be sustained, with waste management trucks deployed to collect refuse for disposal at government-approved dump sites.
The Commissioner further warned that indiscriminate dumping of refuse on walkways, roadsides, drainages, canals, or other unauthorized locations remains an offence punishable by law.
Hajia Buge emphasized the importance of hygiene, urging residents to embrace cleanliness, which she described as “next to godliness.”
