The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the Independence Anniversary parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day on Wednesday, October 1.
In a statement issued on Monday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations, the government clarified that the decision does not diminish the significance of the milestone celebration.
“All other programmes lined up for the Independence Anniversary will hold as planned,” the statement read.
While expressing regret over any inconvenience caused by the cancellation, the Federal Government appealed for the understanding and cooperation of Nigerians, members of the diplomatic community, and invited guests.
It also urged citizens to continue to support the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the collective effort to build a greater nation.
