The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo State, Agun Gbenga, has reportedly slumped and died on Thursday in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Gbenga was said to have delivered a goodwill message at an event before collapsing shortly afterwards. The event, organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), held at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre in Benin.
According to The Guardian, attempts by attendees to resuscitate the NSCDC boss proved unsuccessful.
He was immediately rushed to the Military Base Hospital in Benin, where doctors confirmed him dead.
The late commandant was among the personalities listed to receive awards at the event on the day of the incident.
