Chairperson of the Presidential Inauguration Committee, Jean Mathanga, has confirmed that preparations for Saturday’s inauguration ceremony are at an advanced stage.
Speaking on Friday at Kamuzu Stadium, the venue for the event, Mathanga revealed that the ceremony will be graced by high-profile dignitaries from Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique, Eswatini, and Tanzania, alongside Malawi’s former Heads of State.
She added that senior government officials, including Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, were also at the stadium on Friday to inspect final arrangements.
Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, who was elected as Malawi’s 7th President in the September 16 elections, will officially assume office immediately after taking the oath of office.
The swearing-in and inauguration of President-elect Mutharika and Vice President-elect Justice Jane Ansah, SC, will take place at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
