The Ogun State Government has announced that all schools across the state will remain open and function as usual on Monday, despite the World Teachers’ Day celebration.
The clarification was given by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noheemot Oyedele-Salako, while representing Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, at the 2025 World Teachers’ Day event held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
She stressed that the state would not declare a public holiday for the occasion, noting that the decision was to prevent disruptions to the academic calendar and ensure steady learning.
“While we take this day to honor our teachers and reflect on their crucial roles, it’s essential that our students continue their education without pause,” the Deputy Governor said.
The government, however, reassured residents, parents, and students that the day’s significance would still be observed, but teachers are expected to be in their classrooms to continue academic activities.
