Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspected cultists following a violent clash between rival groups in the Onireke and Isashi areas of Lagos State.
The suspects, identified as Victor Christian (43), Samuel Success (29), Balogun Emmanuel (43), Wisdom Chukwuemeka (28), and Oche Job (39), were apprehended during a coordinated raid led by tactical squads, conventional police officers, and detectives.
According to the police, the swift intervention of the tactical squad prevented further bloodshed, restored calm to the community, and reinforced security presence in the affected areas.
The raid, which followed the reported killing of a victim at a local hotel, also led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons. Items seized include:
One (1) locally-made pistol, Two (2) pump-action guns, Fifty-two (52) live cartridges, Two (2) expended cartridges, One (1) Toyota Avalon (registration number KTU 610 JB), One (1) HP laptop and computer mouse, One (1) car key, One (1) cutlass, One (1) Federal Republic of Nigeria International Passport bearing the name Ekomafe Gregory Dickson
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing cult members, with patrol teams and tactical units maintaining surveillance in the area.
