Football enthusiasts in Kwara State have reacted angrily to the decision of Kwara United Football Club’s management to dismiss Head Coach Tunde Sanni, who recently led the Harmony Boys to their first Federation Cup victory in 32 years.
Members of the Kwara United FC Forum WhatsApp group expressed disappointment over the move, describing it as unjust and counterproductive. They argued that home losses were not unique to the club and that the team’s recent struggles should not have overshadowed Sanni’s historic achievement.
Many fans noted that under Sanni’s leadership, Kwara United not only lifted the Federation Cup but also secured a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, a milestone they said should have earned him more time, encouragement, and managerial support rather than outright dismissal.
One contributor on the forum labelled the decision “unfair and unjustifiable,” saying supporters deserve an explanation for why a coach who delivered long-awaited success was sacked without the chance to turn things around.
They called on the club’s management to adopt a more transparent and stable approach to administration, warning that abrupt decisions could derail the team’s momentum as it prepares to compete at continental level.
