President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, who stepped down from office on Tuesday amid allegations leveled against him.
Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, conveyed his decision in a letter to the President, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation.
He described himself as a target of blackmail by political opponents, noting that his resignation was in the best interest of the administration.
President Tinubu, in accepting the resignation, commended Nnaji for his service and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on October 7, 2025.
