The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five operatives of the Amotekun Corps in connection with the ki11ing of three residents in Akinlalu, a community in Ife North Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests followed investigations into the September 30, 2025, incident, during which members of the Amotekun Corps allegedly invaded Akinlalu in retaliation for the reported snatching of two pump-action rifles from their operatives by unidentified individuals.
During the invasion, the operatives reportedly fired several shots, injuring three persons identified as Adeagbo Kadijat, 22; Oke-Ila Oyebamiji, 60; and Fayomi Toheeb, 19.
The police further confirmed that three others were Ibrahim Oyebamiji, 26; Sefiu Oyebamiji; and Abiola Olutayo were ki11ed, with their bodies allegedly taken away by the Amotekun team.
Police investigations reportedly established that the attackers were members of the Amotekun Corps, and witnesses claimed they could identify those involved. Five suspects have since been arrested, while others remain at large.
The statement added that the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has been invited to clarify his role in the incident but has yet to honour the invitation.
The police also dismissed his recent social media claim of an assassin@tion attempt as false, describing it as an attempt to mislead the public and obstruct justice.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT-FID) to take over the case for further investigation.
The police urged residents to remain calm, assuring that normalcy has been restored in Akinlalu and that the command remains committed to maintaining peace in Osun State.
