The First Lady of Lagos State and Chairman of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled activities for the 25th edition of the National Women’s Conference (NWC), describing it as a landmark celebration of women’s empowerment, visionary leadership, and enduring legacy.

Speaking at a press briefing held on Tuesday, at the Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Dr. Sanwo-Olu said this year’s Silver Jubilee edition, themed “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation”, reflects COWLSO’s sustained commitment to advancing the welfare, leadership, and economic empowerment of women in Lagos and across Nigeria.

She announced that the three-day conference will take place from Monday, October 28 to Wednesday, October 30, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with 3,000 delegates expected on-site and 2,000 more participating virtually.

According to her, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, will deliver the 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee Address. Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State will serve as Special Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony, while Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State will perform a similar role at the closing ceremony. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will host the dignitaries.

“The participation of high-profile personalities at this conference underscores COWLSO’s growing national influence and its role as a unifying platform for promoting women’s development,” Dr. Sanwo-Olu said.

She highlighted that pre-conference activities have already commenced at the grassroots level, including free health screenings, environmental sanitation, empowerment for vulnerable persons, and visits to orphanages and care homes. The annual COWLSO Pre-Conference Awareness Walk, themed “Step Up, Show Up, Never Give Up”, will hold in Ikorodu on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

The First Lady also revealed that the conference will feature engaging plenary sessions, exhibitions, and interactive discussions.
