The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially adopted the consensus mode for its 2026 Ekiti State governorship primary election.
According to a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka (CON), the decision followed the voluntary withdrawal of one of the two cleared aspirants, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo.
In her letter to the party, Mrs. Omolayo announced her withdrawal from the race and endorsed the incumbent governor, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji , as the consensus candidate.
Mrs. Omolayo also expressed her readiness to support any arrangement adopted by the APC in line with the Electoral Act, 2022, and the party’s constitution.
The party confirmed that this development has been formally communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through a letter dated October 13, 2025.
Having met the requirements of Sections 84(9) and (11) of the Electoral Act, 2022, the APC approved the following timetable for the nomination process:
- Delegate Congress – Saturday, October 25, 2025
- Delegate Congress Appeal – Sunday, October 26, 2025
- Special Nomination Congress to Ratify the Consensus Candidate – Monday, October 27, 2025
