FCT Has Seen Impact of President Tinubu’s Leadership, Says Wike|LAGOS EYE NEWS

By Debo Omilani

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his decisive leadership, noting that residents of the FCT are already feeling the impact of his administration through visible developmental projects.

Wike stated this on Wednesday during the inauguration of the construction of carriageways from Ring Road 1 to Ring Road 2 in Abuja.

According to him, President Tinubu’s bold economic and fiscal reforms have strengthened the financial capacity of both states and the FCT, enabling them to embark on critical infrastructure projects.

“By the decisive leadership of someone who has made it possible for all the states and the Federal Capital Territory not to be running around banks anymore, our banks are now the ones seeking partnerships with governments,” he said.

Wike added that every state now has funds not only to pay salaries and meet obligations but also to initiate new projects.

“It wasn’t like that before. So, if for that reason many people are going to support Mr. President, I think it is worthwhile because I don’t see how someone makes governance easier for everyone and we fail to acknowledge it,” he said.

The minister attributed the improved financial stability of states to President Tinubu’s bold decision to end fuel subsidy, describing it as a turning point in Nigeria’s economic management.

“If Mr. President had not taken that bold step to say, ‘Look, this subsidy must come to an end,’ most states today would not have been able to pay salaries. It would have been very difficult,” Wike noted.

He urged Nigerians to appreciate good leadership regardless of political affiliation.

“Regardless of the party we belong to, the truth must be told: when you see good leadership, you must say, ‘This is good leadership,’” he said.

Wike praised the President’s courage to take decisions previous administrations avoided, saying such decisiveness is now yielding positive results across the country.

“By the grace of God, we have seen how things are improving. Everyone is now talking about projects in the FCT. Was he the first President of this country? No. But when you get the right leadership, you see how things change,” he stated.

The minister reaffirmed that ongoing infrastructure projects in the FCT are a reflection of the President’s purposeful and visionary leadership.

“Today’s ceremony continues to show Nigerians that whatever we are witnessing in the FCT is the result of the purposeful leadership of the President. Once you set the standard, whoever you appoint must follow suit,” he said.

Wike, on behalf of the residents of the FCT, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, saying, “They have seen the impact of good leadership.”
