Over one thousand prominent women from across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State have defected from various political parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the exceptional leadership qualities and developmental achievements of Governor Uba Sani as their main motivation.
The new members were formally received into the party by the Kaduna State Woman Leader, Hajiya Maryam Suleiman, popularly known as Mai Ginau, during a brief but colourful ceremony held at the state party office in Kaduna.
The defectors, drawn from diverse political backgrounds and professional groups, said their decision to join the APC was inspired by the visible progress recorded under Governor Sani’s administration in less than three years in office.
Addressing the gathering, Hajiya Suleiman described the mass defection as clear evidence of the growing popularity of the APC under Governor Sani’s inclusive and people-oriented leadership.
She commended the governor for his focus on women’s empowerment, grassroots development, and policies that enhance the welfare of ordinary citizens, noting that such initiatives have endeared him to the people of the state.
“Governor Uba Sani has shown uncommon commitment to the welfare of women and youths across Kaduna State. His administration promotes inclusiveness, and that is why I say to you all—welcome home, because the APC is your home,” she said to the cheering crowd.
The APC woman leader congratulated the new members for what she called a “bold and wise” decision to align with the progressive vision of the party, assuring them of equal opportunities and fair treatment.
According to her, the APC under Governor Sani’s leadership will continue to provide platforms for women to participate actively in governance and contribute to the development of Kaduna State.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu, applauded the women for their courage and foresight, describing their decision as a strong vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership and in the APC’s policies.
She noted that Governor Uba Sani’s impressive record in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development has placed Kaduna on the path of sustainable growth, positioning the APC as the most trusted political platform for progress.
“What this administration has achieved in less than three years is just a tip of the iceberg compared to what is coming,” Hon. Tanimu said, urging the new members to remain loyal, active, and supportive of the party’s programmes.
Several of the defectors who spoke at the event praised both Governor Uba Sani and Hajiya Suleiman for their visionary leadership, describing them as leaders who have restored hope in participatory politics and inclusive governance.
They pledged their full support to the APC and promised to mobilise more women across the state to join hands with Governor Uba Sani in advancing the development of Kaduna State.
