The Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hon. Olalekan Akindipe, has called on Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, emphasizing that a second term would strengthen and sustain the nation’s ongoing transformation efforts.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Akindipe underscored the importance of continuity in governance, noting that meaningful development is only achievable when successive administrations build upon existing foundations.
He commended President Tinubu’s leadership, describing his two years in office as a period of remarkable progress in Nigeria’s economy and international standing.
“The Jagaban of Borgu has turned things around, and Nigeria is once again a nation to reckon with globally. Inflation has dropped significantly, our GDP has risen, and even the World Bank recently stated that if Nigeria continues on this path, we will witness a new nation in the next ten years,” Akindipe said.
He emphasized that continuity is key to sustaining the gains recorded so far.
“My message is simple: the government is continuous, and when there is continuity, development is certain,” he added.
Citing Tinubu’s 25-year development plan for Lagos State during his tenure as governor, Akindipe said the plan’s enduring success remains a testament to the President’s long-term vision and strategic thinking.
“That’s why we need Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu again in 2027, so that all the progress we’re seeing can continue. Everything I’m doing today is possible because we have a President who knows what he’s doing,” he stated.
The council boss disclosed that federal allocations to local governments have increased under Tinubu’s administration, enabling more infrastructural projects in Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
“As I speak, I just came from a road construction site that started today it will be completed in three weeks. Another road is nearing completion, and streetlights will be installed immediately after,” he said. “Things are moving fast because we have a President with vision and capacity.”
He urged Nigerians not to “turn back” in 2027, stressing that continuity under President Tinubu remains the surest path to sustained national progress.
Akindipe also spoke on political realignments within the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that many who previously opposed his leadership have now joined forces with him after witnessing his performance.
“Sometimes they look at stature, but it’s never about stature, it’s about what you have up here. Within two months in office, they’ve seen that I know what I’m here to do. Most of them are now aligned, and I’m doing my best to carry everyone along,” he said.
He further explained that his administration’s poverty alleviation programmes are designed to be inclusive, ensuring that all stakeholders benefit.
“Slots were given to everyone so that it’s a joint effort. At the end of the day, we’ll have a reason to smile and a reason to vote for our president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to continue for another four years,” he added.
On local development, Akindipe revealed plans to establish an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre and a Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Computer-Based Test (CBT)centre within the council area to empower youths and support education.
“We’re establishing an ICT centre that will accommodate about 700 students at a time. It will also serve as a JAMB CBT centre for Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government because all exams are now computerised. We also plan to have a GCE CBT centre, both fully operated by the local government,” he disclosed.
