Promising Senegalese goalkeeper, Cheikh Touré, has died at the age of 18 after being allegedly kidnapped in Ghana under false pretences.
Reports indicate that Touré was deceived into travelling to Ghana for what he believed was a professional football trial. Upon arrival, he was abducted by unknown persons who demanded a ransom for his release.
Sadly, his family was unable to raise the amount requested, leading to his tragic death.
LAGOS EYE NEWS reports that Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an investigation with Ghanaian authorities to ncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
Touré’s passing has sparked widespread grief across Senegal’s football community, with many describing the incident as a devastating loss of young talent.
