President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has called on the new members of his cabinet to be vigilant in helping the government deliver development to its people.
He made the remarks at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre during the swearing in ceremony of the Second Vice President of Malawi Enock Kamzingeni Chihana, Minister of Industrialisation, Trade, Business and Tourism , George Patridge and Minister of Agriculture Irrigation and Water Development, Roza Mbilizi.
Mutharika advised the three against putting selfish ambitions at the expense of Malawians.
“The oath you have taken today is a solemn commitment to the people of this country, that you will serve them. It is not about oneself. It’s old fashioned to eat at the expense of the people we are supposed to serve,” he said.
In an interview, the new Minister of Industrialisation, Trade, Business and Tourism Minister George Patridge said he was honoured to be appointed as a minister and promised to transform the country through his sector.
