Petroleum products marketers in Nigeria have announced that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, is expected to drop in the coming days following the resumption of loading activities at the Dangote Refinery.
The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi, disclosed this to newsmen, confirming that IPMAN members have begun loading petrol from the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery.
According to Maigandi, the move will help ease the current fuel supply shortage across the country and bring relief to consumers.
He explained that as more marketers take delivery of petrol from the refinery, availability of the product will increase, leading to a natural reduction in pump prices nationwide.
“The loading of petrol by our members from the Dangote Refinery has commenced, and this will definitely improve supply across the country. With increased availability, the price of petrol is expected to come down,” Maigandi stated.
The development comes as Nigerians continue to grapple with fuel scarcity and rising transportation costs, with hopes that the resumption of domestic supply from Dangote Refinery will stabilize the market and restore normalcy to the downstream petroleum sector.
