The Kwara State Government has assured residents of Ilorin that rehabilitation work will soon commence on the Kilanko Road in the Offa Garage area of the state capital, as well as the Gaa Akanbi–Danialu–University of Ilorin road corridor
The State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Qowiyu Olododo, gave the assurance today while speaking at the 2025 Third Quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefin held in Ilorin.
Olododo said engineers from the ministry had already visited the affected sites to assess the level of work required and are currently working on suitable designs for reconstruction and drainage improvement.
“Our engineers have visited the Kilanko area, and we are reviewing the design that will suit the terrain. I want to assure residents that very soon, once a decision is made, the people will be duly informed,” the Commissioner said.
He added that a similar process is ongoing for the Gaa Akanbi–Danialu–University of Ilorin road, which has long been a source of concern for motorists and residents due to its poor condition.
The Commissioner who said the government has constructed over 300 km of roads since the inception of the administration in 2019 across the state, appealed to other communities across the state especially in the state capital whose roads are in deplorable condition to formally write to the Ministry of Works for inclusion in future rehabilitation plans.
“There are many roads across Kwara that need attention, and we can’t identify all of them at once. Communities should reach out to us so that we can take appropriate action,” he stated.
Engr. Olododo reiterated the government’s commitment under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to improving infrastructure and easing transportation challenges across the state.
