LAGOS EYE NEWS – The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved the establishment of a high-level committee to overhaul training institutions of security agencies across Nigeria.
Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has been appointed as Chairman of the committee, while former Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman Alkali, will serve as Secretary.
The committee’s mandate includes reviewing the current state of training institutions, harmonizing standards across security agencies, and recommending reforms to strengthen professionalism, discipline, and operational efficiency.
The move is part of the federal government’s broader efforts to modernize the nation’s security architecture and improve inter-agency coordination in tackling emerging threats.
Governor Mbah’s appointment is seen as a recognition of his administrative reform record and commitment to innovation in governance.
