The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has rescued a mentally unstable woman following a distress report received through its official Instagram page.
According to the Ministry, its Rescue Team promptly swung into action after receiving the report and successfully assisted the woman, who was said to be in distress.
Information gathered revealed that the woman, described as well-dressed, had taken an Uber ride from Lekki to the Panti Police Station, where she reportedly attempted to file a complaint against the sun. She was subsequently rescued and taken to one of the Lagos State–owned rehabilitation centres, where she is currently receiving the necessary medical and psychological care for her recovery.
The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, commended the Rescue Team for their swift and professional response to the incident, which was brought to the Ministry’s attention via social media.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, urged members of the public to promptly report any life-threatening situations or incidents that could endanger individuals.
Reiterating the Ministry’s “See Something, Say Something” policy, she encouraged residents to alert the government to such cases by calling 0913 205 5075.
