The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather advisory forecasting varying weather conditions, including dust haze, sunny skies, and thunderstorms across different parts of the country.
In its latest update, NiMet urged residents to remain vigilant, warning of potential flash floods and health risks associated with the changing weather patterns.
According to the forecast, Borno, Zamfara, northern Kaduna, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, and Katsina will experience slight dust haze with good visibility.
The central region is expected to witness sunny skies with intermittent cloudiness. Early morning thunderstorms are likely in Benue, followed by moderate rainfall in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Kogi.
In the southern parts of the country, cloudy skies are anticipated with moderate rainfall in Rivers, Cross River, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom, which may intensify later in the day.
NiMet advised motorists to exercise caution while driving during rainfall to prevent accidents. It also recommended that individuals with asthma or respiratory conditions limit outdoor activities due to the expected dust in northern areas.
The agency further urged airline operators to regularly consult its airport-specific weather reports for safe flight planning and operations.
