The Public Education Officer of the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Chief Route Commander Florence Okpe, is dead.
Her death was confirmed on Tuesday by the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, in a statement made available to Punch correspondent.
According to Fasakin, Okpe, who served as the image maker of the command, had been battling an illness for some time before passing away in her hometown in Cross River State on Tuesday.
He said, “We lost Okpe this morning, Tuesday; her family has confirmed the sad news. She had been sick for a while and attending the clinic here in Ogun until she was given medical leave, after which she travelled to her hometown in Cross River State, where she eventually died.”
Describing the late officer as a dedicated and professional personnel, Fasakin expressed deep sorrow over her demise.
“Okpe was no doubt an enigma — a very sound, resourceful and professional officer of unparalleled dedication to duty. I have sincerely lost a very dutiful officer. She was very dear to me, and it’s been a sad day since we were told of her death,” he said.
The sector commander, on behalf of the FRSC Ogun State Command, extended condolences to Okpe’s family, colleagues, and loved ones, praying for the fortitude to bear the loss.
