The House of Representatives has disclosed that terrorists have threatened to bomb the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Chairman of the Committee on Internal Security, Garba Muhammad, revealed this during a public hearing on a bill to establish the Legislative Security Directorate.
He said the threat highlights the urgent need to strengthen security around the complex.
According to him, the complex has also faced several security breaches, including theft, vandalism, fake IDs, and infiltration by unregistered visitors.
Garba warned that if proactive measures aren’t taken, legislative activities could be disrupted, affecting representation, budgeting, and democratic stability.
He urged quick passage of the bill to enhance security and protect lawmakers, staff, and visitors, while calling on state assemblies to do the same in their regions.
