The former Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has declared that his tenure as the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) was very challenging.
Oluyede disclosed this during his screening by the Senate on Tuesday in Abuja.
Addressing the lawmakers, he noted that while significant progress had been made in improving national security, more work remained to be done.
He maintained that his tenure has been quite challenging but posited that things have improved tremendously, promising a more secure country.
Reflecting on his experience in that role, he spoke about the immense demands of military leadership and the sacrifices required to maintain national security.
He admitted that the country has limited, but must build its own capacity to confront emerging security threats from terrorism to cybercrime.
Oluyede declared that if Nigeria failed to manage information effectively, the present security challenges will persists.
