In a landmark move to deepen police reforms and enhance welfare services within the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze, as the Pioneer Director of the newly created Directorate of Force Medical Services.
This is contained in a statement released on Thursday by Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to Hundeyin, the appointment follows the recent upgrade of the Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate a significant stride aimed at institutionalizing comprehensive, accessible, and efficient healthcare delivery for police personnel across the country.
AIG Eze, a highly accomplished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator, brings over 27 years of distinguished service to her new role. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and originally from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.
Throughout her career, AIG Eze has served in various formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she made notable contributions to police healthcare advancement and the welfare of officers.
Congratulating AIG Eze on her appointment, IGP Egbetokun urged her to utilize her wealth of experience and proven leadership to transform the new Directorate into a model of excellence in police healthcare service delivery.
He emphasized that the creation of the Directorate represents a strategic investment in the well-being and productivity of police personnel, noting that officers’ health remains central to the operational effectiveness of the Force.
