Police Arrest Over 200 Criminals in Kampala Metropolitan |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Kampala Metropolitan Police has intensified its coordinated operations across various divisions, targeting criminal hideouts, drug abusers, and habitual offenders who have been terrorising urban and peri-urban communities.

The latest operations, conducted between November 4 and 5, 2025, led to the arrest of 204 suspects across multiple divisions.

In Kajjansi Division, police operations in Lweza B, Kilyamuli, Akright, and Kawotto resulted in the arrest of 44 suspects linked to marijuana smoking, theft, and other public nuisance offences. Two juveniles were also intercepted while attempting to break into a poultry house.

In Old Kampala Division, 60 suspects were apprehended in Namungona, Nakulabye, and around the New Taxi Park and Mukwano Roundabout. The arrests followed police discoveries of breaking implements, suspected narcotics, and attempts to commit felonies.

Similarly, in Kabalagala Division, police arrested 45 suspects from Nsambya, Kamwanyi, and Kataba over possession of narcotic drugs and involvement in street mugging.

In Matugga Division, several suspects were taken into custody along the Matugga–Gulu Highway, Gombe, and Lwadda areas for phone and bag snatching, as well as drug use during evening traffic hours.

Operations in Mukono District across Goma and Central Divisions also yielded significant arrests:

Katwe–Bukerere: 9 suspects
Namave Industrial Park: 8 suspects
Kitega, Wantoni, Benghazi, and Kikooza: 30 suspects

Additionally, in Kira Division, police operations in Nsasa and Bulindo led to the arrest of 8 suspects found in possession of suspected narcotics.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, all the suspects are undergoing screening and will be processed for prosecution in courts of law.

Owoyesigyire commended the cooperation of local leaders and residents who continue to provide vital information aiding the police in dismantling criminal networks.

“Community vigilance and timely intelligence sharing remain key in sustaining safety and order across the Kampala Metropolitan area,” he said.
