Maiduguri and the surrounding communities in Borno State are experiencing total power outages due to a scheduled maintenance at the Maiduguri emergency power plant.

A statement by the Nigerian independent system Operator NISO indicates that the power outage is from Thursday 6th of November to Sunday 9th November 2025

NISO explains that the maintenance which is a routine operational requirement is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability, efficiency and optimal performance of the generation facility supplying electricity to Maiduguri and environs

NISO appeals for patience, understanding and cooperation of electricity customers in Maiduguri and other affected areas, assuring that supply will be restored immediately as soon as the maintenance work is completed.
