General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has cautioned Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu to act swiftly and wisely in handling the nation’s security challenges, warning that the country should not expect foreign powers to come to its defense if a major conflict arises.
Speaking to the congregation during Holy Ghost Service on Friday, Adeboye urged the Nigerian government to act diplomatically and move quickly to stabilize the nation.
“Move fast and move diplomatically wisely. Find a way to convince the President of America to delay his actions for about a hundred days,” he said. “Then come home and tell our security chiefs to get rid of terrorists within ninety days or resign.”
Adeboye recounted a past encounter with a former Nigerian president, now deceased, who once gave orders to eliminate Boko Haram but failed to follow through.
“I visited him, and though I won’t reveal all that was discussed, one thing came out of the meeting,” he stated. “When giving orders to the service chiefs, make it clear that they are to eliminate not only the terrorists but also their sponsors no matter how influential they may be.”
The cleric emphasized that Nigeria should not depend on any foreign power in times of crisis.
“If America should attack us, China, Russia, and Britain are not coming to defend us,” Adeboye warned. “World leaders will condemn it in strong terms, but nothing will happen.”
Adeboye lamented the ongoing insecurity in the country, expressing concern over the tone of recent presidential statements suggesting that “all is well.”
“The person who wrote that speech for my president does not like him,” he said. “Several people are not telling the president the truth.”
He added that this is not a time for political arguments or religious divisions.
“This is not the time for joking or debating whether it’s genocide or not. Innocent people are dying,” he stressed.
While acknowledging that the current administration inherited many of the nation’s problems, Adeboye called for a united effort toward peace and reform.
“It’s not the time for blame. What matters now is finding solutions,” he noted.
The revered pastor concluded by expressing faith that peace will eventually return to Nigeria.
“God gave us the theme for our Abuja convention ‘Fear Not’ even before President Trump spoke on insecurity in Nigeria,” he said. “As a mathematician, I remember Newton’s Law: whatever method God chooses, there will be peace in Nigeria.”
