FG Stops Planned Implementation Of 15% Import Duty on Petrol, Diesel |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has reaffirmed that there is no cause for concern over the availability of petroleum products nationwide.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Authority said that Nigeria currently maintains adequate national stock levels of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas, sufficient to meet domestic demand during this peak consumption period.

The NMDPRA explained that steady supply is being maintained through a combination of locally refined products and strategic importation efforts, ensuring consistent delivery to depots and filling stations across the country.

It further clarified that the proposed 15% ad valorem import duty on petroleum products is no longer under consideration, describing recent reports suggesting otherwise as misleading.

The regulator urged Nigerians to refrain from panic buying, assuring that all relevant stakeholders within the supply chain are working collaboratively to sustain product availability and price stability across the nation.
