The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), has commended students of the institution for their resilience, maturity, and calmness in the face of the challenges occasioned by the ongoing relocation of the University Park.
In a statement issued from his office on Thursday, Professor Egbewole expressed deep appreciation to the students for their sense of responsibility and orderliness during the transition period.
He noted that despite the excruciating difficulties associated with the relocation, many students have demonstrated commendable patience and a spirit of volunteering.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the relocation exercise is a necessary measure aimed at ensuring the safety and security of members of the university community, and not an attempt to inconvenience students. He assured that the administration is working tirelessly to address the transportation challenges caused by the relocation.
“We are not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring that this challenge is resolved without further delay,” he said.
Professor Egbewole disclosed that new buses expected to ease students’ movement would be delivered within days. In addition, he announced that the university is making arrangements for at least 100 electric vehicles to enhance transportation within the campus, which are also expected to arrive soon.
While acknowledging that the situation has been difficult for students, the Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the administration’s empathy and commitment to providing lasting solutions.
“An extra day of this challenge is costly, but please be assured that the administration is doing everything within its powers to resolve this matter without any further delay,” he stated.
Professor Egbewole concluded by expressing optimism that the current hardship would soon give way to relief, thanking the students for being worthy ambassadors of the institution.
“After every hardship, there is ease,” he said.
