The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly distanced itself from a circulating document purporting to be the report of its Reconciliation Committee, describing it as unofficial and unrepresentative of the Board’s position.
In a strongly worded statement signed by Sen. Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees clarified that the report in question neither originated from the Board nor received its consideration or approval. As such, it “cannot, in any form or guise, be regarded as the position of the BoT.”
Reaffirming its stance, the BoT expressed unwavering support for the party’s elective National Convention scheduled for Saturday, 15th to Sunday, 16th November 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, where new national leaders are expected to emerge.
The Board noted that its position aligns with a Supreme Court judgment affirming the supremacy of political parties in managing their internal affairs.
Consequently, the BoT rejected suggestions for the formation of a caretaker committee, insisting that the party has “irreversibly decided” to proceed with the elective convention—an internal matter over which the courts lack jurisdiction.
The BoT urged members of the PDP to remain steadfast and focused on ensuring the success of the forthcoming convention.
