FCT Police Debunks Alleged Attack on Naval Officer in Kubwa |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports circulated by Instagram blogger Mazitundeednut alleging that one Lt. Ahmed Yerima was attacked at the NNPC Junction in the Kubwa area of Abuja. The Command described the claims as “false and grossly misleading.”

According to a statement released by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command in Abuja, the incident in question occurred on 16 November 2025 at about 6:15 p.m., when a patrol team conducting a routine stop-and-search operation intercepted an ash-coloured Toyota Camry.

The vehicle reportedly had a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows, prompting officers to request the driver’s identity and an explanation for the concealments.

Police say the occupant refused to identify himself, made several phone calls, and rolled up his windows, declining further engagement with officers.

Shortly afterward, three naval personnel arrived, identified the occupant as their colleague, and were seen taking photos and videos of the scene before departing. The police then allowed the vehicle to go, and the patrol team continued its duties without incident.

The Command expressed surprise that the routine encounter was later circulated online as an alleged assassination attempt.

FCT Police Commissioner, CP Miller Dantawaye, urged residents and visitors to cooperate with officers performing their lawful duties and cautioned against the spread of fake or unverified news capable of generating fear or public unrest.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities or make inquiries through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08068587311, and the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) on 08107314192.
