The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday announced that it has received an official communication from Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu seeking a suitable date to present the Year 2026 Appropriation Bill before the lawmakers.
According to the letter, the Governor is proposing a total budget estimate of ₦4.237 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year.
The communication, read by the Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko, formally initiates the legislative process leading to the presentation and consideration of the 2026 budget.
During the same plenary, the Assembly nullified the nomination of Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu as General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPAA).
Presenting the report of the 12-man Ad Hoc Committee on Screening of the Nominees, Chairman Hon. Mojeed Fatai revealed that Mrs. Adelabu had been functioning as General Manager since 2021 without undergoing the mandatory confirmation by the House. He noted that this violation of the legislative confirmation process significantly informed the committee’s recommendation.
After deliberations, the House adopted the committee’s position and, in accordance with Section 92 of the Lagos State Transport Reform Law, formally nullified her nomination.
Meanwhile, the Assembly confirmed two other nominees for key positions in the Lagos State Government.
The lawmakers approved the appointments of Mrs. Adeyemo Khadijat as Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, and Mrs. Adepoju Adebajo as Chairman of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF).
Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa commended the Ad Hoc Committee for its thorough work and reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to due process, accountability, and ensuring that only qualified, properly screened individuals occupy public offices in the interest of Lagos residents.
